Arginine: The Natural Viagra Alternative
19 11 2007Last month we summarized four herbal Viagra alternatives.
This post will highlight one of them; arginine.
Unlike some other popular Viagra alternatives, arginine is not extracted from roots or bark of some exotic plant. Arginine is one of the twenty or so identified amino acids that build protein in our bodies. It’s not an herbal viagra alternative. Arginine is an amino acid that enhances blood flow and it’s found naturally in foods.
Some food sources containing arginine are dairy, meat, poultry, and fish are good sources of arginine. Nuts and chocolate also contain significant amounts of this amino acid.

“The amino acid L-arginine is considered the most potent Nutraceutical ever discovered, due to its powerful healing properties, and is referred to by scientists as the Miracle Molecule.” - anginineresearch.com

“In a study of 50 men at Tel Aviv University, 31% of those with impotence improved after six weeks of taking arginine. The ones who might benefit from it are men who have circulatory disorders that may be contributing to sexual problems. The suggested dose is 1 gram three times a day; sold as L-arginine.” - askmen.com
Arginine is a popular treatment for the following conditions:
- Arthritis.
- Alzheimer’s Patients
- Cancer Patients.
- Liver Disorders.
- Weight Loss.
- Body Building.
- Fertility.
Taken in small doses there do not seem to be any adverse side effects. Large doses can cause several serious side effects; consult a doctor first.
