At the end of last month I wrote about the #1 site for “buy viagra”, studmeds.com, a site that claims to be created by medical students and for medical students; yah right. Well, studmeds.com is still holding the number one spot for “buy viagra”.

Today, I take a look at the #2 site for “buy viagra”, genericsmed.com, which according to Yahoo Explorer has 37,324 backlinks from external pages.

Although 37,324 is a good number of backlinks, still I wonder, so I check a few.

OH my gosh, the folks at genericmeds.com are listed as major supporters of w3.org, A PR9 PAGE!, what a bunch of nice guys they must be. I wonder how much that cost? Is this legitimate? Does a “buy viagra” pharmacy in *India really have their heart in supporting w3.org? Their anchored text on w3.org is “Generic Viagra Cialis”, nice.

Ah, a bit more reading at w3.org and my question is answered:

* Premier Supporters have made a contribution of > 10000 USD.
* Major Supporters have made a contribution of 1000 - 9999 USD.
* Contributing Supporters have made a contribution of 100 - 999 USD.

So, for $1,000US, (per year, I think), genericsmed.com gets a PR9 link to their “buy viagra” site, cool.

You know how one thing leads to another, right? Well, I could not help but notice who else is buying, ooops, supporting w3.org from the goodness of their hearts.

What other sites are major supporters of w3.org and listed on their PR9 page for $1,000 contribution?

I was amazed because I thought I would find a lot of stuffy corporate type sites like IBM and Microsoft; firms that have an interest in supporting the w3.org work.
