General Motors Spends Millions on Viagra & Cialis for Erectile Dysfunction
13 10 2007
Now we know why so many sparks are flying at General Motors plants.
It seems that GMC auto workers have an uncommonly high rate of whimpy-willys, (erectile dysfunction), to the tune of over 17 million dollars last year. The men suffering from erectile dysfunction didn’t pay that for Pfizer Viagra, GMC paid it for them and actually, if you own a GMC vehicle, you are giving GM workers a hardon. Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra prescriptions are just a portion of $1.3 billion that GM paid for 15.8 million prescriptions last year alone, (does not include products dispensed to employees enrolled in HMOs).
I can almost hear the new employee orientation at the GMC plants: “Educational assistance, hospital coverage, dental checkups, and all day erections”.
But at least we can say that erectile dysfunction drugs are not the most consumed prescriptions at General Motors. GM’s top three drugs by spending in 2006 were heartburn drug Nexium, ($110 million), followed by cholesterol-busters Lipitor, ($84 million), and Zocor, ($51 million).
