Pfizer Is Watching All Viagra Shipments

2 10 2007

In December, 2006, Pfizer began putting radio frequency identification, (RFID), tags on all Viagra shipments in the United States in order to avoid their previous year’s loss to counterfeit love pill pushers. About 5 million counterfeit pills were seized in 2005 by the penis pill police.

Every bottle of Pfizer Viagra has a tiny electronic chip under it’s label equipped with a tiny antenna to transmit the electronic product code, (EPC).

This week, Pfizer has taken another step, Pfizer has licensed software from SupplyScape to assign and manage electronic records for Viagra. These e-records will be used to track shipments from the Viagra manufacturing plants to the wholesalers and to the retailers; the complete supply chain.
